Dinner with Shakespeare

The next Dinner with Shakespeare will be held September 27 at The Crescent Club - details coming soon!

“Good friends, go in and taste some wine with me”

~ Julius Caesar

Back by popular demand - with a new twist!

Join Tennessee Shakespeare Company for our 2010 Dinners with Shakespeare!  Each event will feature a new Shakespeare play, a little trivia contest, and a three-course dinner hosted by a different Memphis-area restaurant.

Like last year, we'll start with music as you arrive at 6:00 pm - but then we'll play in an all new way!Shakespeare Trivia

During dinner, you and your table will test your Shakespeare knowledge as a team and compete to win great prizes!  Topics range from the play and its history, to movies and music based on Shakespeare's works.  Don't worry, you don't need to be an actor or an English major to compete or win.  Everyone will know something at your table!

This promises to be an evening full of good food, great friends, and wonderful fun.  With proceeds benefiting Tennessee Shakespeare Company, this is also a delicious way to show your support!

March Dinner review

Thank you to all who joined us at Interim Restaurant in Memphis in March!  And a big thank you to Lisa and the crew at Interim for the delicious meal and molten chocolate desert.

Caley Milliken during Dinner at InterimIren Zombor (Memphis Symphony Orchestra) played selected sonatas from the upcoming Julius Caesar, and the entire cast was on hand for the fun.  Brittany Morgan (Portia) and Elizabeth Raetz (Brutus) played an intense scene testing the strength and devotion in relationships, and Caley Milliken (pictured left as Marc Antony) "let slip the dogs of war."

As the trivia contest closed, there was a THREE-WAY TIE!  Dan McCleary came up with a tie-breaker: "The Ides of March plays a huge part in Julius Caesar - but what celebration begins the play?"  Christina Wellford-Scott (pictured above, seated) got the answer first ("Feast of Lupercal"), and her team won the points and prizes for the month.  Don't worry - the points will accumulate through the events, so bring a table of your smartest friends next time and get on the chart!

Dan and Lucia OutlanTSC announced this year's Luxury Trip Drawing: a 4-day/3-night weekend Broadway stay in New York City!  Many entered, and Lucia Outlan (pictured left) won the night's drawing for a copy of Julius Caesar (signed by Dan).  Lucia is still entered to win the grand prize, and you can be entered, too!  Click here to read all about the hotel accommodations on Broadway, theatre tickets, and dinner!

At the end of the night, we had a surprise visit from Memphis Mayor AC Wharton (pictured below)!  After thanking everyone for coming out to celebrate Shakespare, Mayor Wharton told the gathered guests, "Tennessee Shakespeare Company one of the reasons that this is a great city!"
