Tennessee Shakespeare Company Season Auditions
Non-Equity Actors/Singers and Stage Managers for 2026-27 in Memphis

When: In-person on Saturday, June 13 from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm (CDT)

Where: Tennessee Shakespeare Company, 7950 Trinity Road, Memphis, TN 38018-6297. Free private parking adjacent to theatre.

Seeking: One Production Stage Manager, and Assistant Stage Managers, and Non-AEA actors experienced with Shakespeare’s verse and/or singing in the 1950s style. Actors and Stage Managers of all ethnicities, races, and genders are strongly encouraged to audition/interview.

Present: Dan McCleary, Producing Artistic Director & Stephanie Shine, Associate Producer/Stage Director

Season: Includes a travelling, outdoor pastoral comedy by William Shakespeare; a 1950s musical cabaret; a classical 1920s American play; and a festival of six new works adapted from classical literature for developing in readings and staged readings.

Contract: From early September 2026 through the end of March 2027, multiple production contracts (2-week/5-week/6-week/7-week) are available.  Contracts average $500.00/week.  Rehearsals are 5-6 days per week.  Some performance schedules include student morning matinees; rehearsal calls are staggered daily for efficient use of everyone’s time within a 35-hour workweek.

For Stage Managers: positions range from PSM at $700.00/week (August 25, 2026 – March 21, 2027) to ASM at $450.00/week (early September 2026 through late February 2027) with a two-week unpaid hiatus bridging December/January.

Callbacks: If necessary for actors/singers, will occur same day. Text will be provided. For stage manager candidates, this is one ten-minute interview that may be followed up later in the week.

Dates: Season’s first rehearsal is September 1, 2026, and the performance season runs through March 21, 2027.

Performers prepare: One comedic Shakespeare piece, and one piece from the 20th Century classical repertoire; and (if you are a good singer) 16 bars of a melodic song (c 1950s; no accompanist provided by TSC). Total time of all pieces: three minutes. Bring three copies of your current headshot and resume stapled front-to-back in the four corners. Please be advised to follow these guidelines exactly.

Stage Managers prepare: Resume, prompt book, representative SM paperwork.
