Tuesday Literary Salons
Young William Faulkner: Before the Fury

April 21, 2015
at the exquisite home of Melia and Drew Murphy
sponsored by Nancy and Dan Copp, and Prichard’s Distillery

TSC’s Southern Exposure Series features a fun-filled literary party from 6:00-8:00 pm, including writer-specific libations, light fare, live piano music of Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart by Steven DiBlasi, and 30 minutes of the words of one of the South’s influential writers in a private, luxurious Memphis home.

Then, TSC’s Young William Faulkner: Before the Fury performs on April 21, 2015. “Civilization begins with distillation,” William Faulkner, no stranger to Memphis, is reported to have said.  Following mint juleps and other straight brown spirits of choice, along with the music of the Delta, Jimmie Rodgers, and perhaps Mr. Faulkner’s favorite, Beethoven, readings (led by Dan McCleary) from the early short stories of the author’s career will peal through the house.  Mr. Faulkner, recognized for his literary creation of the Mississippi baroque in such novels as The Sound and the Fury, As I Lay Dying, and Absalom, Absalom!, won the 1949 Nobel Prize in Literature and two Pulitzers for his fiction.

Tickets are $55 for one Salon or $100 for both, and include the entertainment, open bar, and appetizers.
