JULIUS CAESAR
by William Shakespeare
directed by Dan McCleary+
September 25 – October 6, 2019
on the Owen and Margaret Wellford Tabor Stage
generously sponsored by the family of Pat and Ernest G. Kelly, Jr.
“The abuse of greatness is when it disjoins remorse from power”
A dusty history about people in togas tucked safely away into halls of museums? Or a prophetic reflection of political machines and combustible relationships from which future generations must learn — lest we be doomed to “let slip the dogs of war!”?
One of the perfectly formed and most exciting plays in theater comes quite literally to life in this intimate production that awakens 44 B.C. to our current senses.
The cast includes Neil Brookshire* (Brutus), Paul Bernardo* (Cassius), Phil Darius Wallace* (Marc Antony/Casca), Merit Koch (Calphurnia/Lucius/Trebonius), Claire Hayner (Portia/Cinna), Michael Khanlarian (Julius Caesar/Metellus), and Marquis Archuleta (Soothsayer/Decius).
This project is funded under a Grant Contract with the State of Tennessee.
