“Stay not. Be gone. Live.”
Fiery Verona erupts with violence fueled by the age-old feud between two respected families. Blind hatred yields to blind love as two young people meet, meld, and marry, with the hope of uniting their families. Love and grace will prevail, but at what cost? Ten actors bring the play to urgent life in 90 action-packed minutes. This performance and series of playshops continue to raise Language Arts grades, levels of compassion, and the likelihood of a lifetime of reading and experiencing Shakespeare.
The National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest presents Shakespeare in American Communities. Tennessee Shakespeare Company is one of 40 professional theater companies across the nation selected to perform a Shakespeare play with a professional team of actors for middle and high schools and conduct related educational activities for students. In addition, the company was one of seven organizations selected to engage youths within the juvenile justice system with the works of Shakespeare through theatre education programs.
