the U.S. Tour
by William Shakespeare

45-minute running time
February 18 – May 15, 2020
Shakespeare’s irrepressible comedy highlights for students the causes and effects of bullying, and discovers ways to stop it. Three actors nimbly tell the story of twins Viola and Sebastian, separated at sea during a storm. Unknown to the other, both land in steamy Illyria. When Viola disguises herself as a boy (looking exactly like her brother), confusion delights as love abounds, mistaken identities confound, and a trio of friends tries to teach a foe a lesson.
Post-play workshops led by the actors empower students to become “upstanders” to bullying rather than “bystanders.”
Performance Space: To play, we require approximately a 16’ wide x 15’ deep space for the performance. Stage lights and amplified sound are unnecessary. Our actors will bring everything they require with them. No stage or elevation is required, so we can play in a variety of spaces. Though we do not require a stage or raised playing space, please ensure the chosen performance area has good visibility for your audience. Material is suitable for all ages.
